Atelier Matthew James Collins is dedicated to the advancement of figurative art by providing a quality formative education. An experienced educator, Collins has been teaching drawing, painting and sculpture for over 20 years. He offers study opportunities for students and artists of all levels.
Full time study in an atelier environment is available. Short courses, weekend classes, and workshops offered throughout the year share specific historic techniques such as sight size oil portraiture, fresco painting and portrait sculpture. His studio also hosts workshops taught by internationally acclaimed figurative artists.
All courses are held in the artist’s personal studio. This historic 19th century space featuring north light was purpose built for the Florentine painter Michele Gordigiani. His illustrious student, Giovanni Boldini, also worked there.
