I am very pleased to share that my painting “The Young Architect” has been included in the #93 Eros Gaze publication of Poets Artists Magazine. This summer I will be having a show of my Italian landscapes and portraits. Kindy hosted by the Oak Park Public Library it will be up for the month of July. Entitled The Dream Incarnate, the work represents my experience in Italy through a visual interpretation of the places and people that have inspired me. It opens Saturday, July 8th.

Tonight is the award ceremony and opening of the Modportrait 2016 at the Museo IAACC Pablo Serrano in Zaragoza, Spain. My painting Enchanted (shown above) will receive a Honorable Mention. The show will remain up until the end of July before it moves to the MEAM in Barcelona. A link to a nice article in Spanish about the show can here.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the event this evening. I would like to personally thank Jose Enrique Gonzalez, director of Galeria Artelibre, and jury for recognizing my picture. The Galerie Artelibre together with the MEAM under the leadership of Jose Manuel Infiesta have greatly contributed to the reawakening of a sincere appreciation of figurative art in Europe.
My painting shown above, Enchanted, was awarded an Honorable Mention in the traveling portrait show and competition, ModPortrait 2016. Sponsored by Galerie ArteLibre, the competition/show will first open at the Museo Pablo Serrano in Zaragoza, Spain on April 7th. It will then move the Museo MEAM in Barcelona where it opens on May 12th.

While in Chicago this summer I had the opportunity to participate in a short interview feature about my life and work. Footage from the opening of my Iter Animae that took place at Loyola University is featured as well. I would like to thank Matt Baron and Joe Kreml for developing and creating this wonderful piece.

This July I will be conducting a 2 day oil portrait workshop at the Oak Park Art League. It will address historical approaches to portrait painting, in particular the methods and materials of the 17th and 18th Masters of the British, Flemish and French schools. Process, visual philosophies and technique will be discussed as students develop a portrait sketch over 2 sessions using a limited palette and oleoresinous medium.

Above is a painting I completed of Gabriel dressed up as Darth Vador. The portrait was completed from life over several sittings and the clothing from my imagination.
