Amerigo Vespucci, Marble, Uffizi, Florence

2012 marks the 500th anniversary of the death of Amerigo Vespucci(1454-1512), the Tuscan navigator.  A series of events have been organized to celebrate the year of America.  One of these was a concert at the Teatro della Pergola, a beautiful historic theater in the heart of Florence.   It featured the Pacifica Quartet and had a show of paintings in the foyer.  My painting of ‘The Young Architect’ was on display.  It was an honor to show along side of a couple of wonderful works by Charles Cecil,  a mentor and friend.

The Young Architect, oil on linen, 50cm x 70cm

Rosanna Cirigliano, an italo-american journalist, not only helped organize the event but shares it in her fantastic blog: Beautiful Florence.  Please check out the post here.
